HIPAA Privacy Training for Contractors and Volunteers

Learning Objectives

By the end of this module, as a HHSC contractor or volunteer you will be able to:

  • Protect the rights of persons receiving services from HHSC
  • Responsibly handle Protected Health Information (PHI)
  • Identify what information needs protection
  • Display an understanding of HIPAA
  • Eliminate the potential for penalties from misuse of PHI.

This is a self-study course required for contractors and volunteers of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. This course will give you basic information about the federal HIPAA rules that protect the privacy of an individual's health information.

You must complete the entire course to receive credit. If you choose to exit the course before the end, your progress will not be saved, and you will have to start over. Allow one hour to complete the course. You will have one opportunity to print a certificate of completion at the end of this course. This certificate should be presented to the individual who instructed you to take this training.
