GENERAL CONSUMER INFORMATION

Volunteers must respect the confidential nature of all personal contact with consumers and identifying information of consumers. Violation of this confidentiality requirement can result in immediate dismissal from the volunteer assignment.
A volunteer, even in casual conversation, cannot share specific information about a consumer. For example, a volunteer may talk about their friend who has intellectual and developmentally disabilities, but may not talk about Mary Jones, whose diagnosis is traumatic brain injury.
